Saddle Fitting Clinic March 18th, Bilby Ranch

Joe Boustead of Canterbury Outpost Saddlery gave an informative, hands-on talk on Sunday March 18th at Diane Smullen's Bilby Ranch. A really great crowd came out to meet Joe and Michelle and listen to what he might teach us!
The large crowd watched on as Joe demonstrated how and where to palpitate the horses back to find trigger points, discussed the purpose and use of various correction pads, and discussed saddle fit with a multitude of saddles and horse body types. He was able to show everyone how to find the important physical structures on the horse, and explained the importance of each, with regards to fitting saddles correctly. We had the opportunity to try a variety of saddles on some very patient horses! We had a great forum to discuss the problems each saddle presented, then what we might be able to do to solve the problems or what changes to the structure of the saddle might be required.
The UHA would like to thank Joe at Canterbury Outpost Saddlery for coming out on a Sunday morning and giving us all a bit of his time and to share his knowledge with us. We would also like to thank Diane Smullen and her boarders who allowed us to invade her place and demonstrate on their horses!
Our Clinic Director Pierrette Legros was able to snap some pics of the clinic, check them out above.
