Horse Industry in Dire Straits!
Opinion: It is really sad that the Government of Ontario can't quite see that the manure on their shoes is really what helps the horse industry to support 60,000 jobs. The rundown of the splinter effect of removing slots from tracks is difficult to swallow. Hopefully our members are aware of what is going on and will take the time to get up to date - The government used to make about $8 billion a year from the tracks - they feel they are a losing business because now they only get $1.5 billion! Come on now - "these billions in found revenue are a gift horse to the province" (the Rider magazine) - if you can, let the government know that this just isn't right. We all know where all those excess horses will end up...

The Lameness Lab will show you visually all about why a horse goes lame, what lameness looks like and clues to look for in a lame horse. It is important to understand the basics of lameness for the well-being of your horse. Don't forget to take the Lameness Video Challenge to test your skills in identifying different types of lameness!
