RCMP MUSICAL RIDE COMING TO UXBRIDGE!

Wednesday, September 19, 2012 the Uxbridge Horsemen’s Association was proud to be able to present the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride to the citizens of Uxbridge. The day dawned clear and sunny encouraging huge turnouts for a wonderful demonstration of the
equestrian sport.  Numbers are estimated to be around 4400 people altogether for the two shows!

We were pleased to have Para-Equestrian Dressage rider Robyn Andrews and her coach Sue  McTavish to start off the show.

They were followed by D’Arcy and Emily Wilson of Durham Valley Equine giving a great  demonstration on the sport of Reining.

For the second time this year we had with us Muriel Chestnut and her
horse Soberio XII who gave a colourful Classical Dressage performance.

None of this  could have been accomplished without the help of Kevin Alcock, Dave Dickie and  the Township of Uxbridge. We woke to a
soggy Ring surface which was unsuitable for riding – with the quick attendance  of the Town we were able to scrape the ring and have it ready for our 12:30 pm  show.

When the RCMP comes to your town,  there is a list of requirements – chief of which are feed and bedding for the  horses. Thank you to Howie Herrema for  donating the straw for bedding, Don and Pam Tribbling for donating the hay and  John Taylor of HH Goode & Son and Shurgain for donating the feed.

I would be  remiss if I didn’t mention the extraordinary effort of Shelley and staff of Blue  Heron Book Store and Willa and her staff at Presents, Presents, Presents in  selling tickets to this event – it is people like these that make this town  special!

Constable  Christine Tribbling, an Uxbridge native, was instrumental in getting the RCMP Ride to Uxbridge. Through the early  urging of her parents and herself, then UHA President Kevin Alcock pursued the
paperwork necessary to get Uxbridge as one of the RCMP performance sites this  year.

The Ride  itself was wonderful – full of colour, pomp and pageantry. We had a full house for both of our  performances. Thank you to the citizens  of Uxbridge for supporting the UHA in this endeavour. Because of your support we will be able to  donate a portion of our proceeds to the Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity.

The Uxbridge  Horsemen’s Association would like to thank this year’s Partners who have helped  us to bring both Everything Equine with the Rawhide Rodeo and the RCMP Musical  Ride to Uxbridge. They are Platinum  Partner Patterson’s Flooring, Gold Partner Roxy Theatre, Silver Partners  Brandon Ford Sales Limited, Gerald Lawrence of Coldwell Banker, and HH Goode  & Sons (1987) Ltd/Shurgain. Our
Bronze partners are BDO Uxbridge, Meek Electric and Cornerstone Insurance  Brokers Ltd. Supporters include Veridian, Hepburn Trailer Sales, Comfort Inn Newmarket, Canadian Tire Uxbridge,  James Campbell Insurance, McDonalds Uxbridge/Port Perry and Fox Fire
Equestrian.

Our Media Partner was KX96 New Country FM and CKDO 107.7 FM. We were also lucky enough to have the special  appearance of Lance Brown and the CFTO news team, reporting live at our show  along with announcements the night before from Tom Brown doing the weather
report, specifically for Uxbridge!

To the Editor

Uxbridge Volunteers have done it again.

They have put Uxbridge on the map and this time it was the Uxbridge Horseman’s Association bringing the RCMP Musical Ride to our small town for all to enjoy.

The Uxbridge Horseman’s Association also put on the Equine Tradeshow in May at Elgin Park which also brings many visitors to our community.

And the many horse farms in the township are excellent ambassadors for the community with programs that attract people from far and wide which also benefits the local businesses and attractions being put on by other volunteers.

A huge thank you to the Uxbridge Horseman’s Association for
their excellent promotion and programing in Uxbridge as we all benefit from
their hard work.
